Joe Weidenbach

Market Leader, Chicago

“Clients demand that our professionals deliver great services and also have the ability to connect on a very human level.”

With a naturally outgoing personality, Joe Weidenbach’s candid and compassionate approach to relationships is well-suited to a career in the wealth management profession.

“After earning a law degree, my first career was as a litigator, but the adversarial nature of that work was just not appealing to me,” he says. “Like the practice of law, wealth management is all about problem solving. But the focus here is on fostering constructive relationships and beneficial strategies.”

As Market Leader for U.S. Bank Private Wealth Management in Chicago, Joe leads a team of professionals responsible for providing Investment Management, Private Banking, Trust and Estate Services, and Wealth Planning. He brings to his role more than two decades of experience in asset management, trust services and other wealth management disciplines. Joe held a variety of leadership positions at JPMorgan Chase before joining U.S. Bank in 2012.

When he builds client service teams, Joe is careful to select people who demonstrate high intellectual and emotional intelligence. “Our intensely personal relationships with clients demand that our professionals have both the technical skills and experience to deliver great services and also the ability to connect on a very human level,” he says.

Joe also believes in gathering plenty of information before making important decisions that have long-term impact. “I want to be sure we consider many data points from multiple perspectives in order to make the best decision possible,” he notes. “This discipline serves both our clients and our team as we wrestle with very complex challenges presented by clients.”

Education and community involvement
Joe earned undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Dayton and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame.

Long active in the Chicago-area community, Joe lends his time and experience to many charitable causes and civic organizations. He is on the Board of Trustees of the University of Dayton and the DuPage Foundation, and serves on the President’s Council at the renowned Museum of Science and Industry. Joe is an active member of The Chicago Club and Economic Club of Chicago, and is a former Board Member of The Morton Arboretum.
