Always Have A Plan

Scott Schmid began his career in the banking and financial services industry in 1988. He considers himself extremely fortunate to have worked with many managers throughout his professional life who have demonstrated high integrity. In addition to honesty and strong principles, these managers had another thing in common: They all had a plan.
“I am very lucky in that my managers became my mentors. They taught me that the true secret to success is to always have a plan in life and in business. When you have a plan, you know where you are going.”
Scott has adopted this philosophy as a secret formula for success with clients and colleagues alike, in large part, because he believes that helping people plan well helps make a positive difference in their lives and in the communities where they live, work and play.
As the Market Leader for U.S. Bank Private Wealth Management in San Diego, Scott leads a team of wealth professionals who are committed to helping clients with Investment Management, Trust and Estate Services, Wealth Planning and Private Banking. Prior to U.S. Bank, Scott held a variety of positions in the personal and banking divisions of several Midwest financial institutions, including serving as president and CEO of a regional community bank.
Philosophy
Scott believes in the power of servant leadership. “I believe I am here to help make other people successful. If the people around me are successful, I am successful.” Scott applies this philosophy to his daily work. “If you ask me what kind of leader I am, I will tell you — without hesitation — I am a servant leader.”
Education and community involvement
Scott earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Rice University in Houston and his MBA in finance from Washington University in St. Louis.
